What Makes Our Voice Coaching Different?
VoiceOver gives you speech therapy science applied to vocal coaching. We begin with a full assessment of your vocal health and how you use your voice in your specific role—whether that’s speaking into a microphone on stage, in a recording studio, or in the boardroom.
- Technique: You’ll learn healthy vocal techniques, including breath support, resonance, and articulation.
- Endurance: We’ll develop your vocal stamina and guard against vocal tension and other behaviors that can cause vocal cord trauma.
- Style: We’ll refine your unique sound and speaking cadence so it’s well-suited for your niche.
For voice actors and audiobook narrators, we incorporate mic techniques, vocal projection and range, pacing, and how to manage long sessions without losing vocal quality.
Many of our clients first come to us because of an issue such as vocal fatigue or strain, but we don’t just fix problems—we help you avoid them. You’ll learn how to spot and guard against tension in the vocal cords.
As for aging voices? Yes, we cover it. As you get older, your physiology changes, resulting in reduced vocal fold elasticity and breath support. Coaching can help you adapt and maintain clarity, strength, and presence.
The saying is true: Age really is just a number. If you feel strong, vibrant, and engaged, we can help your voice match how you feel.
How Does Professional Voice Coaching Work?
Plenty of services claim to take a personalized approach, but with voice coaching, that really is the case. No two voices are alike.
At your initial evaluation, our professional experts will look at your overall vocal health, including any concerns you have, how you use your voice currently, and your specific career goals (what you want your voice to do in your role).
- Customized Plan: Based on your evaluation, we’ll design a plan consisting of technical exercises (breathing, resonance, articulation), role-specific work (recording, live speaking, character work), and a habit/training plan.
- Coaching Sessions: We’ll meet for regular sessions, tailored to your schedule and role. At each session, we’ll monitor and track your improvement, tweaking as needed.
- Independent Practice + Maintenance: You’ll be equipped with tools, exercises, and strategies to train on your own. We’re always here for support, and we’ll schedule check-ins to maintain your gains.
- Performance + Longevity Focus: Especially for high-use voices (podcasters, narrators) we’ll include stamina training, voice recovery strategies, and preventative maintenance to ensure your voice keeps up with your busy career.

FAQs
What are common voice challenges you work with?
We most commonly get calls about vocal fatigue, hoarseness, instability, or breathiness. Our clients make comments such as “my voice sounds rough,” “I’m losing my range,” or “I can’t project like I used to.” This may be due to overuse, acid reflux, an underlying medical condition, or physiological changes due to aging.
What happens in a voice coaching session?
We will keep you busy! We value your time, and your session will include warm-ups, technical exercises, and assessments of your vocal progress. We might practice breathing, articulation, or protection strategies to avoid strain while projecting or doing character voices. We can work with you virtually and in person.
Why do professionals work with vocal coaches?
Professionals work with a vocal coach for many of the same reasons they would work with a personal trainer or a business consultant. Our clients want to refine their techniques and improve their speaking skills to meet specific goals in their careers. As licensed speech-language pathologists, we’re often able to identify underlying issues that might go unnoticed in a non-clinical setting.
How will vocal coaching benefit my career?
One could argue that your voice is your most powerful asset in sustaining your career. Powerful voices direct, inspire, motivate, and teach. A voice can command a room with a single word and hold audiences captive for hours on end. We help you unlock your voice to move forward in your career goals.
What is included in a voice coaching evaluation?
A comprehensive voice evaluation examines both the functional and perceptual aspects of your voice, as well the physiological aspects of your voice.
It typically includes standard acoustic voice measurements with our professional sound system and specialized software. We perform an analysis of pitch, loudness, perturbation, and spectral features, to objectively describe voice quality and stability.
Aerodynamic measurements are also obtained to assess breath support and efficiency, including airflow and subglottal pressure estimates during phonation. Together, these components provide a detailed profile of vocal function that helps guide training, therapy, and performance goals.
Professional vocal coaching sessions begin at $400 and are available in 5-visit and 10-visit packages.
